Cat ID?

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

I found this on the ground, so don't have a host plant to go by. Anybody have any idea?

as close as I could come is White-blotched Heterocampa

Linda - Now that's an interesting cat. Not any that I am familiar with. Donna perhaps is pretty close to IDing it. Some of these cats we find are such a mystery until they become an adult moth or butterfly.

Oops...I just repeated Donna's ID :o) White-Blotched Heterocampa (heterocampa umbrata)

It's pretty similar. That could be the kind I saw. Seems like they don't know much about that moth.

Oh, but there's also another Heterocampa that looks similar! H. oblique.
