Recieved in trade a nice size Neoregelia Sunshine pup several months ago. Put in phal orchid mix in a humidity tray in a southern window. Just looked at it and while it looks healthy (no mush, rot, bad odor, leaves are firm), it hardly has roots. Yes I know it is an epiphyte but does that mean no roots? I moved it to a heat mat near a CFI light (being that the southern window is now in shade), will that help it, else what should I do? I have a few other broms of different types, they are potted either in C&S mix or a mix of phal mix and C&S mix; should I change the mix of the neo? Thanks.

Bottom heat works wonders. Keep the soil moist but not wet.
You can use a rooting hormone. I do just because it's easy (can't hurt) and the powder also contains a fungicide.
Sow ho do you do that? Just dip the pup in the hormone and plant it regular?
I usually moisten the base of the pup (the last inch or so) and sprinkle a little rooting powder on it before planting. Truthfully, I often don't bother with the hormone unless the pup is off a rare or unusual plant.
Beverly - where's the pic of your pretty?!! :)
Oh will have to take one and post it.
