Updates: Llama Face, JLA, Missy Mouse, and "Lady" Itchybay

Campobello, SC(Zone 7a)

Llama Face, aka Allie:
Vet came out this morning to take her bandage off and check incision. She has a soft spot that is "weeping" so she is back in bandage that we have to change daily and on antibiotics we have to give twice a day with monster needles. (seriously monster...my tail tucked just seeing the needle!) She took a culture and will have results tomorrow. She said this could put her back in the clinic on IV...I said great, back on the trailer. She laughed and said "no problem!" HA!

JLA: Well, I said I wanted to name him for a fighter since he's put up such a strong fight and since we are a dedicated Detroit Red Wing family, what better fighter to name him after than the one all Red Wings fans know? Joe Louis Arena, JLA, is the Wings home arena so Max's new name is Joe Louis, Joe or Joey for short. And since I tend to use nicknames, Joey sounds so much better than Maxi which I just knew was going to end up as Maxi Pad eventually SOL. Besides, DH hated Max. Altho, I spent the day calling him Joe-Joe-Max or Max-oh-I-mean-Joe since I've gotten so used to calling him Max. Anyway, Joey is a week old today. I can't believe it's been a week! Today was the first time he was allowed outside and OMG, what a total blast! We had him out for about an hour and a half and he took full advantage of stretching his legs and smelling the flowers and even playing with a big blow up ball! DH had to carry him to the dog yard because we couldn't get him to walk even with the lead line looped behind him like they did at the vet. DH carried him half way back to the barn too when we were done, however, my smart brave boy walked all by himself, on lead, the rest of the way back to the barn. I'm still amazed. It took forever and us scratching his withers and telling him what a good boy he was every few steps, but he did it! Oh and DH says he doubled in weight since we carried him off of trailer into barn on Saturday :-)

Missy Mouse, aka Maya: 4 weeks old today! I just can't help it...she looks like...well...hmmm, a very healthy cow next to Joey! LOL! She is getting soooo big! She has the nicest manners (if you don't count her bitting DH last night) altho you can see how jealous she is when Lady nickers or even just looks at Joey. OK, so she's spoiled, but nicely spoiled. If anyone drives in, she runs to the fence and does this high pitched "heeheehee" like they are coming just to see her and she's soo excited to have company. I just wish she'd teach her momma some manners.

"Lady" Itchbay: Yeah, you know who. I was making real progress with her right up until at some point she drew the line at me becoming Joey's "momma". I get ears back most of the time now when I approach her stall and she tried to bite me the other day when I was refilling her water. Somewhere along the line, probably from total lack of sleep, I lost my fear so I know it's not that. I'm gonna throw a saddle on that girl one of these days and remind her I know how to ride...right after Gaia comes and teaches her how to lounge, and rides her first, LOL...Gaia, when's school out?

So, where's my Rump-a-Thump boy in all this? In the back pasture with the boys, pouting. This weekend he comes in and gets groomed head to toe and I'll get an idea his opinion of the goat and Joey. Gonna intro D to the front pasture and Lady and Maya on Saturday then bring Thump in and put him in Lady & Maya's stall so if he freaks at the goat, I can take him right back out without upsetting anyone too much. Of course, this is all based on if I have a fence in the front pasture this weekend. DH and Ted are going to redo the fence since it's all torn up so we have a place to let the goat out other than the dog yard. The holes are too small for the horses but more than big enough for Baby to walk thru. Lady and Maya may be back in the girls old pen this weekend.
