I just did my first soil test and found that my soil is in pretty bad shape. I've been trying not to use any chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides around my yard, but I'm afraid that if I don't do something my plants will suffer.
So, is it okay to use fertilizers on plants that are intended for butterflies? I know to stay away from pesticides (I don't really have many pests anyway), but I'm not sure about fertilizers.
Thanks for the help!
Butterflies and fertilizers
Passiflora07,
The best way to ammend your soil is with Compost,Peat Moss and cow manure...Add tons of it to your existing beds. Oops! Do you have raised beds? Florida's soil is so bad. The best way around it is to have raised beds I think. As far as fertilizer's go....Excellent question! I'm not positive about that but I use a slow release. Anything else just fades quickly away because of the heat, rain etc.
