Can you i.d. this Central Texas Native shrub?

Bastrop, TX(Zone 8b)

Found this on my property. I imagine the birds will like the deep blue berries. It has thorns. I'd sure like to know what it is.

Thanks guys and gals.

If that came up here I would say it was a firethorn - piracantha.

It could be Gum Bumelia, Bumelia lanuginosa

Ginny, it's a Texas native tree in our area called Bumelia lanuginosa. Mature trees look like yound live oak trees from a distance. The crown is round, dense and evergreen. The bark is very similar in appearance. We have quite a few here on our ranch. I really like their shape. The spines aren't really a problem as they are mostly hidden by the foliage. The genus name has change recently, but at the moment I can't remember it. You will still find it under Bumelia.
