Blue beauties for trade

Texas/Okla central b, United States(Zone 7b)

If you like blue this is a beauty.....blue dayflower......actually called false dayflower, tradescantia.. .grows slender and upright to about 12 inches covered in blooms in springtime, does not invade

I also have true dayflower which makes a ground cover, or great in hanging baskets, looks like wandering jew with bright blue blooms sporadicly on the tops, can be invasive

I trade 3 clumps for 1 of modern named bearded iris, or named ufo day lily

hey Lavina........good to hear from you again......

Yes, very similar to spiderwort, but I believe these to be false dayflower. If not it certainly would not be the first time I have been wrong. They are a lovely blue and I dig them and add them to my butterfly gardens along with bearded iris and daylilies.

They are a wild flower in dry texas soil.....False dayflower.........widow's tears...Commelinantia anomala in plant files......

They are pretty. Wish I had a yard full of flowers.

well, I have 40 acres that includes all kinds of wildflowers..it is left natural ..just thought someone might like to share the beauty.....things that seem quite common to me here are sometimes wanted in other parts of the states... I don't necessarily know what grows wild in other places..wild here are coral honeysuckle, coreopsis, butterfly weed, euphorbia, ironweed, black eyed susans, soapwort, fall asters, goldenrod, smartweed, baby blue eyes, blue eyed grass, ohio bundle flower, daisey, horsemint, camomile, pickeral weed and lotus for the ponds, all kinds of tall grass prairie grasses......just to name some of the ones I can think of off the top of my head

I would LOVE some of the Blue day lilies or some of the other flowers you listed such as coreopsis, black eyed susans, soapwort, fall asters and goldenrod. I have no idea what "smartweed", or baby blue eyes are. We just moved to Idaho. 3 years ago I sold my beautiful gardens (oh, excuse me, I meant house with beautfiul gardens! hehe) and went back to school. NOW I'm finally in a position to once again GARDEN!!! If you have any of the flowers to trade for postage I would appreciate it. I am new to Dave's Garden so I'm learning the ropes. Thanks!

My gardens have gotten to be such a big job that I no longer trade for postage alone.. It's a bit of work to dig and pack and I am rural so it is a 20 minute drive to the post office. What I would be excited to trade for are named bearded iris or alliums. No harm in asking, many people on Dave's send for postage.
I would not move from here. Retired here 3 years now. I have several acres and work like a dog. I am 65 and retired from working mannnnnnny years in a big city environment in a closed office. If I can keep my kids from later putting me in a nursing home, it is my plan for them to find my shriveled body tumbled over either from heat exhaustion or snake bit in one of the ponds or gardens.

Jackieshar, LOL, I like your attitude about where you want to die!!! I'll have to hit you up for a trade when I have something worth offering you! I'll have some bright red Oriental lilies in the fall, now would not be a good time to ship them. Thanks for replying,

I have two differnt alliums. Would I have to dig and divide the root or does the seed they put out make another plant?

Texas/Okla central b, United States(Zone 7b)

they need to be dug and divided

Shelton, WA

jackieshar, would trade for postage?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Grammie, she already answered that above... scroll up 4 posts.

Jackie, I just wanted to let you know how delighted Hart was to get the coral honeysuckle you sent! I kept one for myself too -- will plant it under the hummingbird feeder. :-) I'm keeping my eye on those irises I have for you... they look good!
