These are in the ground, I put them in 4 years ago. All started from 4 about 2 ft. tall in 1 gal. pots. I give them very little attention. They must just love where they are.

So many blooms is almost a sin. No, so many are sensational. Wow!

Thanks, I've given several clippings to friends. I just prune it above a "nub" and stick it in dirt, any old dirt here. These were a gift, lucky, lucky, me. I watered and fertilized them last week out of guilt from the other pics I've seen. This should make you feel better, my favorite aunt brought me a gardenia as a house warming gift, I grew it in a pot on the pool deck for 3 years, I put in in the ground in the "planter" around the pool deck and it was dead as a door nail in 3 months! I almost cried. The soil around the deck is the worst.

What a sea of gorgeous blooms!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Susan, you may want to check the soil Ph.. I'm biting my nails here cause I just planted my gardenia in a new flower bed, and I'm worried.. no problems yet, but just don't wanna loose it!

Brandon, FL(Zone 9a)

I have other plants around the deck that do just fine. The soil is not good I know. I should've just repotted the gardenia.
The trumpets in the picture go all the way down the fence, which was my goal. I just kept clipping and growing new ones until I got to the end. I kept pruning the taller ones so the shorter ones could catch up.
It was the easiest project I've done.
Last night my husband said " This is just what I envisioned when you started" Well, me too dear!
Happy Gardening
