Roll-ee Po-lees in my ginger????

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

I dug out some white butterfly ginger, and it was covered in rollee pollees (don't know if there is a proper way to spell it), and they seemed very harmless.

Then I dug a prized canna, the whole thing had hollowed out holes in the rhizome that looked like swiss chesse. And there were rollee pollees on it.

Could it be the rollee pollees or something else that ate the canna?-and the ginger seems fine. Anyone else???

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Rolly Polly (pill bug) bugs eat decaying plant material. So it's more likely that they were doing "clean up" work on your rhizomes. Another pest is probably responsible for your damage.

BTW, pill bugs are actually small crustaceans and not an insect.
