My Very First Strep Bloom!

(Zone 1)

I have my very first Streptocarpus Bloom today ... it's a plant I got from Starfly/Eunice a couple of months ago. The name is Streptocarpus 'Dilby's Gwen'. I thought the flower would be much larger, but I may be thinking of Gloxinia's with the huge flowers? Anyway, just had to share the photo of my very first Strep with my very first bloom! :)

I think it's very pretty. Sometimes when streps have small blooms they make up for it with abundance.

How exciting for you! Very pretty flower.

Very pretty! I like the way you present it in the crystal bowl. Did you do that for extra humidity? It looks very nice like that.

:) Karen, It's not planted in that dish, I just sat the pot in there because that dish has a long stem and I could raise it up a bit higher for the picture! I do plant stuff in glass containers all the time though and might just have to use that particular dish for something! It never gets used for candy or anything, so it would be perfect for a plant!

I didn't think you had planted the Strep in it, but I thought you were using it for extra humidity or something. Anyway, it looks very nice! (you know.... we are all always looking for new ideas on how to use things in our home for our plant babies!) ;-)

Oh, Thanks Nancy! You mean the blooms get larger as the plant gets larger? I am looking forward to next year! Hope I get more than one bloom as time goes on, but for now, I am Thrilled with the one pretty flower!
