Went to the High Ledges

I went for a hike today looking for birds and wildflowers. I heard more birds than I could shoot but I got a few. Here is the overlook of the Deerfield River meandering towards Albany, NY.

Here's a phoebe enjoying the view.

And I heard lots of warblers-black-throated blue, yellow-rumped warbler, yellow throat, and this beauty, a black and white warbler.

Trillium.

White hepatica. I will have to go back soon for more. I would love to get a pic of the scarlet tanager that lives there, but I never know which year I'll see one!

You're very welcome! It's not so often I get a decent pic of a black and white. Once I found one on the ground by my barn and realized it had flown into the window but was only stunned. I ran for the camera and got a few great pics before it flew away, glad to be alive. Here it is.

Oh I forgot to say we saw quite a few hermit thrushes, too.

Boojum, Bainbridge and Whidbey are about the same - we may have more "bluffs" on our island, but I'm not at all sure of that.

This photo was taken on the west side of the island, Double Bluff, and it is a fabulous spot to watch eagles - and also windsurfers!!

This is looking the other direction - I took a bazllion photos of these guys . . . I think there was 8 of them altogether and they were amazing.

Still an awful lot of white stuff up there! Is that the Olympic Mts., or Vancouver Island?

That's the Olympics, Resin, and the photo was taken in February. I haven't been there on a clear day for awhile so I don't know how much snow is left.
