Took a lot of new pictures of the chicks today while they were out pecking around in the yard. They're really starting to feather out. Hey, does anyone know why my Gold Laced Wyandottes are black with a little bit of gold instead of gold with a little bit of black? Will they change colors later?
Here's one of the brown leghorns
Bunch of new chicken pictures
nice birdies, Hart. looks like they are enjoying the sunshine too!
Look how big they are and look at all those pretty feathers!
I was almost dumb enough to ask how you knew that one was a rooster. LOL At what age do they start getting that comb?
I was wondering the same thing, I have 8 ameraucana's and I'm hoping they are all hens, LOL. I need to get some new pictures of my new chicks, they are growing to fast.
In the incubator I have
10 Black Austrolorpe
10 Gold Laced Wyandottes
10 Domonics
15 Cuckoo Marans
Your chicks are beautiful, how old are they?
Cathy
Eu, and Hart,
People tell me mine might be a cornish hen.. But I went to the
other feed store here in town and it a long horn.. Eu, you are right no cornish hen... He is a rooster..
How are the baby chicks doing ladys???
Tracey
They'll be a month old this week. The rooster's comb and wattle really started growing last week, so I'd say at about three weeks. That was about the time frame for the comb when I had a White Leghorn rooster before too. But he's a regular combed breed so I don't know about the ones with other types of combs like the Ameraucanas.
They love their little outings into the yard every day. They're so cute, if something startles them they all run to me and either hide between my legs or jump on my knees.
They're growing so fast. I guess they'll be ready for their chicken house in a couple of weeks. The Amereaucanas are noticably bigger than the others, including the rooster, and have been since they arrived. The Brown Leghorns are the smallest and they will be the smallest hens when they're grown too. The Buff Brahma should be the largest but she's not quite as big as the Ameraucanas now.
To cute and wow... Good pixs.
Cathy,
How are you and the chicks doing???
