Firefox and IE possible?

I really like firefox but also need to use IE so I can view pages I add to my Dad's site and make certain they look ok on a variety of different browsers. The problem is that when I install Firefox it will not allow me to use the IE browser. I select IE and a page opens in Firefox. Same thing when I try to use Netscape. It is very frustrating and I finally uninstalled Firefox entirely since IE will allow me to test in different IE versions and in Netscape.

I know there must be a setting I am missing that will allow me to use firefox most of the time and still access IE. But I can't seem to find it.

Can anyone help a frustrated old lady?
