Looking for Giant Solomons Seal have Casa Blanca Lily Bulbs

Granite City, IL

I have only done a few trades here, but trade at the other site often.

I am looking for at least 10-20 of these. Would like to do one trade if possible.

I have large Casa Blanca Bulbs and maybe a few other Lilies if interested.

Thanks

i have tons and tons of these -- they are too big to transplant now, and will definitely die if I dig them now. But if you are interested in seed, please contact me in September. (They would die if we tried to transplant them, even if you lived across the street, I have no idea if I could transplant the roots in fall or not.)

They can be transplanted now or even later, but the tops will die back for this year. Next year they will be up with no problem. At least this has been my experience.

That's intersting. I have given them to many, many people over the years, even my across the street neightbor whom I know planted them right away in the right location both sun-wise and soil-wise, and they didn't make it. Of course, I don't know that she watered them the way she should have but I supervised the replant ;)

In any case, it's 80 degrees here and I'm not diging them up because it's too hot, if not for the plants, then for me. LOL!

It seems that Solomon's seal seeds need cold stratification to germinate,
i.e. seeds would germinate the second spring if sown in the fall. I am sawing them each fall now.

I did successfullly move this plant both in the fall and spring. However I found that at times it's hard to get the tubers/rhyzoms out unharmed. Mine seem to be planted farely deep, so I left the really big plants alone and am watching for the starts now. The mature plants that are over 3' tall are magnificent.
