Heronswood Opens

Akron, OH

I found myself in the Philly area a couple of weeks ago and was able to visit the Heronswood Hellebore Open in April. It was very well run and the weather was great. Good selection of Hellebores and other perennials. This was a local article that was written later - sums it up pretty well.

If you find yourself in the Philly area - here are the next few Opens

That was nice of you to let us Pacific Northwesters know what's going on with the "new" Heronswood. Sounds like they've done a decent job of keeping the Heronswood reputation at a high level.

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Thought at first about writing a comment to the article, regarding Burpee's cannibalizing and destruction of Heronswood. Thats big business for you, its over and done with and nothing can change it. So sad, but at least the event was enjoyed by many. (I hope)

Yeah, Balvenie, it was really hard for us out this way to lose Heronswood, wasn't it, but you're right - it's over and done with and hopefully people will be able to understand and appreciate what was started by Dan Hinkley.

The real Heronswood will actually be open to the public on July 21! Take a look:

I'm going to post this to a new thread in case people aren't seeing it here. It may be people's last chance to see the garden.

By the way, here is a link to a thread I started way back just to post updates about heronswood for people who are interested in what happens. The attempt to buy the garden and preserve it for future generations has been stopped because Ball will not negotiate a fair price for the place. There are links to several newspaper articles in the thread:
