Do zygocacti belong here?

West Orange, NJ(Zone 6a)

hello,
I received in a trade 3 zygocacti that I'm rooting, don't know much about them other than one will have red flowers, 1 salmon, and 1 yellow. Do they get discussed here or in C&S?
They look like they've put out white root between the "joints." I'm rooting them in a mix of phalaenopsis orchid mix plus a little peat, have them on a heat mat under an Ott-Lite until they are rooted. Any advice gladly received. I never rooted these kinds of plants before, but the method worked for an aloe vera so I figured it might work for these.
Thanks.

Hi,

They should root just fine in that mix. They're very easy to root.

Yes, you should post over on the C and S forum for Schlumbergeras(Zygocactus).

I guess it can't hurt, but they are easy to root without going to any extra trouble. Just stick them in some soil, thats all.

But....schlums are not cacti, and are not cared for in the same manner. They grow epiphytically, in trees, in the same manner and often in the same area as epi's do.... they don't like full sun, they don't like dry sandy soil. They come from the rainforest. Why are they not discussed in this forum?
