Downy Indian Paintbrush
Castilleja purpurea
Possibly var. citrina, but because of white not yellow color, most likely a hybrid of two varieties
Downy Indian Paintbrush (Castilleja purpurea)
That is wonderful!!! Where did you find it Stacey? I have never seen one like it.
Josephine.
This one was at Parkhill Prairie in Collin County. They also had a few other colors out there, the red and another one I can't remember that I did not get a picture of. There were some really neat flowers out there. I really want to go back out there in a week or two and see what new stuff is blooming.
It is neat to find so many hidden treasures, it looks like you have caught the bug.

Well, it comes and goes, especially every spring. Usually my explorations and pictures of plants are at vacation spots or public garens and such, but I have enjoyed visiting the local prairies. I would really like to keep it up and go to a new nature trail or garden every weekend through the spring and part of the summer.
