Hi everyone,
Do you grow your violets under grow lights? Is it worth the efforts? There was an ad in the local newspaper for a growlux grow light system for $40.00. I called and it is a tripod system with 6 trays and lights. I am not sure what that means but I guess I will go take a look at it. Is that a good price? I don't know anything about this but if it's a deal maybe I should buy it.
Thanks,
Sue
Grow light question
Sue,
Yes I think it is well worth the effort. For one the violets grow more uniformly because the light is right above them and they just plain bloom more. I leave mine on for about 10 hours on a timer. The ones I have in windows have to be turned daily, THAT is a pain.
It sounds like a good deal, check it out.
Good luck,
Sandi
I don't know what that means either.....
Lights make things a lot easier, but many people use shoplights and standard fluor bulbs ("warm" and "cool", not grow lights) on shelves. That setup usually is cheaper. Remember that fluorescent lights get a lot weaker over time and should be replaced every year or so.
Ki, I have all my lights as full spectrum lights but I did read someone else saying that they used one cool light and one full spectrum together????? (in a shop light fixture)
