Hi,
I have a lot of daffs in inconvient locations in an 11 x 22 ' patch that I'm trying to turn into a garden. Reading up on the subject, I've seen everything from hanging in pantihose to burying the bulbs in vermiculite in trays over the summer.
Anyone know a good way to prepare (season in the sun?) and keep the blubs. I'm in Z 6 or 7 depending on the map...although I buy for Z5 because of occasional -20 degree winters.
Also, has anyone ever tried mixing up early- mid- and late-season daffs and planting them together in a ribbon strip? Does it look good as the various flowers come into bloom, or does it look messy?
Any info would be helpful.
Cheers from Delaware...

Keeping Bulbs over summer
I would think you could just plant them in the ground, that's where they'd be if you didn't dig them up.
I'm not sure what a ribbon strip is, but I have everything from crocus, iris, tulip daffodils etc
in same bed. To me, whatever's in bloom draws the attention away from the dead foilage
however some might think it looks messy and I'm sure if they were taking a photo for a magazine or nursery catalog they would find that unacceptable. hope this helps
Thanks, Len.
The ribbon strip is a suggestion I saw on this forum, someone plants her bulbs in a curved bed that wanders around the perennials. I thought it was a cute idea.
