I am looking for lilacs for sase

Cincinnati, OH

Hi all! I am interested in any kind of lilac bush, or even started plant. My dear FIL was "helping" us by cutting the grass, and moved all the stakes that we had out to remind my DH where my plants were. He ran over alot of plants, and don't ask me how, he ran over a 3 ft. lilac bush., it took more than one pass too. Chewed it all up, and it is NOT coming back. I would love to start over, yet again, with a new one. I will take any kind, more than one variety, I don't care, it just isnt spring until the lilacs bloom.

Are you sure it is not coming up yet? How long has it been since the homicide? Lilacs are pretty tough. Was it well established awhile before the tragic event?

Send me a Dmail on a couple of weeks as I will be gone a few days. I have several "shoots" off mine which will simply get mowed over. They are light blue.

Seems that a 3 ft lilac oughtn't be killed by mowing, unless it was a newly-planted bare-root shrub.

You would think so, but it was mowed to the ground and the remnants of the "tree" part were just all gnarled up. I think he did it on purpose so he would not have to trim! LOL. I had the little thing there for 2 years. It was a little branch when I planted it. It did not grow like lilacs usually grow, crazy. It was an exceptionally slow grower. Go figure?

Slow grower, eh? you're better off with a more vigorous cultivar anyway. speaking of which, my 10 year old lilac looks like it put out a zillion suckers. If so, I'll send you some for stamps. will lyk.

Thanks a bunch.
