Anybody making their own feeders and waterers ???
I think I am going to make the bucket feeder ...maybe 2 for the yard. But I also want to use the big pvc piping to make a bolt on to the wall of the coop. I think it will take up less space.
I saw where you can make your own bucket waterer with the dribble hole.... has anybody done that ?? I sort of thought I had it figured out but I was looking at a galvanized pan for the waterer and realized I won't be able to use apple cider vinegar with it for their water. I think I saw some big rubber looking pans in the horse supplies in tractor supply, I suppose I could one of those instead.
Although come winter I will have to change to galvanized probably for freezing. I read where someone put their waterer on cinder blocks with a cord and small wattage light bulb underneath and walla had their own heated water dish.
Anybody have pics of the inside of their coop to share ??? I hope to get the coop finished this week and will post pics.
I am stringing fishing line across the width of the chicken yard as hawk/owl deterrent. I had been pricing netting etc and to cover a large area it is quite expensive. A friend told me while on vacation he ate at a restaurant that used fishing line strung over the top of it's deck to deter sea gulls. I plan to add some of those foil pie tins and maybe some colored bits of yarn or streamers to also "flag" to the birds there is something covering the pen. I really don't want some hawk getting tangled up in it trying to get in or one of my birds getting tangled trying to get out.....
I'm hoping it's not a bad idea. It's much more cost effective (cheap...lol) compared to actual netting. At night I plan to lock all the birds up for safety.

This is some good watering ideas and feeders to..
Hope you can get an idea from this...
I build feeders some times for mine. Okay I use two V shape boards, 1 doll rod for to hang, and 2 Tiragles for the sides
I then glue and nail together and wait for a day or two for drying.
Then I hang it up with food in it..

Jab, Try looking in Wally World, for the packaged , NOT the roll, of bird netting! I found mine there, I Believe it was a 12 by 24 for $5.something!!!
Hah, got this link that was posted on another site. Thought it was a great idea to make your own heated pans. Although I've read of ppl using a cinder block with a lightbulb in the hole as a base as well.

Although I admit I worry they will pick the cord open and shock themselves to death......
