New living area!

Monticello, GA

I've got this coop 90% finished. Just added on a 4 x 8 room to my workshop. Gonna add a 4x4 chicken wire run the length of the shop on the back.,,, Should end up about 30x4x4...Can't let them free range just yet,,too many coyotes, bobcats, and hawks to worry about,,,not to mention Eufaulas feral beagle! I went to see Eufaulas bigfoot JW,,,today!... Too late!

This is a sorry pic!But the girls seem to like it OK! Still gotta add a door, and other plumbing, but I think they will like it once I am finished.
Here are the girls all bunched up together after dark. Sorry for the poor quality pix!

Nice! Do you put any sort of wire in front of that glass, or is it plexi? I was told by an old farmer that the hens would peck at the glass, so we put some hardware cloth in front of it.

It looks like it's coming along nicely !!! I like to see coop pics especially the inside it's great for ideas!!!

I hadn't thought about them pecking at the glass, but I can see it could be a problem. We are in the process of building our coop and put in 2 windows up high but the one window we put a perch in front of so they could "sun" in the morning. I thought in the winter they would enjoy that. I had bought hardware cloth for the outside because coons could rip thru the screening to get to the hens. If I put it on the inside it might make opening and closing the slide windows difficult.... oy vey

Now Turkey beard You are getting tooooo uptown!!! Thats going to be some chicken house!!! Your Birdies are going to have to give you great big kissys with their little chicken lips!!!!!!
OH YeAH!!!! That is NOT ,MY feral Beagle!!! .......but when I catch her , Her A_ _, is mine!!!!! whewwwww! Got that off my Chest! Turkey beard I hope one of us do catch her before she kills again! That old dog has been terrorizing my end of the county for near 4 years now! She is so street smart that she will lay in wait for a family to leave then she goes straight for the most vulnerable chickens! OR the ones that are Slow and or young! So having an enclosed compound is the safest thing!
I got the rest of my layers in the tractor for now so they cant fly out! That is what they started doing , and escaped the barn, while we were gone and that Beagle had a field day!

No Zeppy, just glass. There is a screen that fits in both windows,,,but they were pecking at it , so I took it off..Thought they might peck a hole and pull at loose screen. They peck at the glass some , but usually only when a bug lands on it. I found a nice metal bird feeder at a yard sale friday,,gave $2.00 for it ,,,here is a pic of it.

Those are great feeders.

And the glass on my coop (8 x 16') is old and very thin, so I think it's just more fragile.
