Here is the fruit. It did not do this last year. So is it edible?

That is the Blue Passion Flower, Passiflora caerulea. It has some other common names too, but I can't recall them at the moment. I'm pretty sure the fruit is edible, although they probably aren't quite as good as the P. edulis varities that are farmed for their fruit. The vine is self-incompatible--meaning it needs pollen from another plant of the same species to set fruit. If you have more than one vine, you can hand pollinate them to get fruit. That might be more reliable than the bees. I've heard that bee keepers have been having more problems in the last couple of years.

Hey Marie how about saveing me a Fruit? Paul

Thats the hardy one we grow lots over here.
It has become a bit of a weed in my garden. At the last house i bought one plant it fruited and the fruit fell to the ground. The next spring there where tons of baby plants so i planted them in pots. I moved house and gave lots away. From that i now have about a dozen here and they keep popping up all over the place.
Some that i gave away have fruited and a friend has eaten them (he's still alive!) but mine haven't fruited since i moved here! Typical.

If tey fruit Paul i'll send you some. i doubt a plant will make it alive but if you want i will try next time one springs up.

Mike I wish I had that problem. Other than bermuda grass the only thing in my garden that reproduces itself is my chocolate mint.

Hey the weeds grow well too thought! hehe

I asked in the Mg forum because i had Mg's self seed this year too. Never happened before.

Mike

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

You really are lucky. I planted 2 mg's given to me by someone else as small plants. I am hoping they consider reseeding for me too.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

I wouldn't mind but i collected tons of seeds ready to sow this spring!

Mike

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

I do not have much luck sowing seeds at the moment. So reseeding would make me happy!!

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

I won't tell you how many i have sown at the moment then. heheh

Why don't you have much luck at the moment? What you trying to grow?

Mike

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Maybe my black thumb. The only sed to grow for me so far has been sunflowers. I am not giving up though.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

My sunflowers went a bit funny all long and leggy. They germinated quicker than i hoped on the windowsill and i didn't notice!

My blue passiflora is a 'Blue Bouquet' but it has yet to bloom! Healthy foliage and a strong climber but no blooms! I have several varieties in the yard that bloom repeatedly.

Any ideas what I can do to encourage a pretty flower? Just one and I woud be happy. It's in full sun, BTW.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Try Tomato food.

I do nothing to mine.( I have blue boquet too and it is also full of fruit although I have not checked to see if they have seeds in them or not) It sits in full arizona blazing sun, get irrigated about 1-2 times per week.
