" da best "
Pretty fish.
Question, why do breeders always try for the perfect white & red fish. Sorry can't remember the correct name for the color. There are lots of beautiful fish out there.
kohaku, why? because most people want A+ koi. they sell a lot quicker too!
But why Kohaku?, just because they are flashy. Aren't there other A+ fish besides Kohaku? I guess it is all in the eye of the buyer. I prefer lots more color in my pond. I think all Kohaku would be boring. I have seen one pond with almost all Kohaku, sorry but it wasn't as pretty as a nice color mix.

yup. i no what you mean.
I look for things I don't currently have.....new colors, fins, patterns.......I don't breed, so I'm not looking for the "perfect" fish, just a healthy one that's priced reasonably and is attractive to have swimming around in my pond.

I am with you, I don't intend to breed to sell, if I had birth control for fish I wouldn't breed at all but I do want flashy colors when I look at my fish. I like my white ones and I have a orange and black butterfly that I like. I bought 3 Ogons last year. I usually buy babies so I can watch them grow but sometimes they change as they grow so I never know what I am going to have. Kinda like the light yellow that turned white with polka dots, talk about an ugly fish.

Peggy....take a pic! I'm trying to get some pics of my fish to add to the next post...the sun is begining to sink in the west (somewhere over by FLKoiFarm!) so I may have to wait until tomorrow. I want to see what other people consider ugly,lol....I have one poor guy who's own mother wouldn't take him back!
:)
I'll see if I can find his? picture from last year, he died during a spring ammonia spike. I don't have any on this computer (work) so I will look at home, I know I have some.
I think I have another one that is shaping up to be pretty ugly also.

I have one poor guy who got too close to the pump and lost his upper lip,lol ( I KNOW, it's not really funny) but now that he's re-hab'd, he just eats a little funny....I also have one poor guy who WOULD have been a really pretty fish, but was quite diseased when I got him, rehab'd him, and although he's a butterfly, he has little nubby front fins) I buy very few 3-4 inch fish, especially in cluster quantity, because although I'm not looking to have the next show-class winner, a good many of those are nothing better than expensive shiners to be used as bass bait.
