Well. Today it just happened. I got to see my first humming bird in Florida. At my pomegranates. The bright red-orange blossoms got him. (And I know humming birds. We get a load of them up in NJ in the summer. We have a feeding station that gets full service.) But darn -- no camera in my hands. But next time ..............................
We live on a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico -- just off of Sarasota. It took thirty years -- but it finally happened. That must be a good sign.

Congrats, flyboyFL!!!! I sure hope it doesn't take me 30 years to see one! I'm still waiting ..... but it's only been 2 years since I started planting for them.
You should put up a feeder somewhere near the Pomegranates. That might bring a few in and keep them around your house! :-)
Congrats flyboy! That is a good sign!
Congratulations to your sighting. Thirty years is sure a long wait.
I am not here in mid-summers -- so I don't want to get them hooked. But they must come down here in October -- which is when they leave NJ. So I'll start then. They ARE beautiful.
I couldn't see the throat -- so I am not sure what he/she was. But if there's one, there are more around.
Patience is a virtue.
Be well

I just painted a big red arrow on the stones. It's pointed North-northwest. That should direct them to you.
