3 seconds of fame .....

I just had to share ..... I submitted an idea to Backyard Living Magazine and it got published! LOL! I subscribe to the magazine and got the issue in the mail a week or so ago. Was flipping through it again and wouldn't ya know..... I recognized a photo of a white trellis! (Pretty sad I didn't even see the article the first 2 times I was reading the magazine! lol I usually read the magazine from front to back the day I get it!)

Unfortunately, you can NOT view the page on the web..... But I love that little magazine and got a kick out of my idea and the photo I took of my suggestion getting submitted in their "the frugal gardener" section of the magazine. If anyone has this magazine, look at the May 2007 issue and go to page 18. My suggestion is on the upper right hand corner under "Taking Thrift to New Heights".

In having my suggestion published, I am to get one of their Backyard Living wind chimes. I've already gotten a mini garden tote bag with tons of pockets around the outside including 2 mini garden tools from renewing my subscription. It's really cute! And the tools work!!! LOL!

And no! I don't work for or am promoting their magazine........ though it's worth having a looksie if you are at the market and see it on the magazine rack.

Their website is:

Oh how exciting..I kinda know how it feels. Years ago I had a car that happen to get in Hot Rod Magazine..no, my car wasn't a hot rod, I just happen to be driving by the right place at the right time. Did you go out and buy hundreds of copies (lol) ? I'll have to look for it the next time I go to the store. Next time you should tell them "Forget the tools, send me hummers".
Thanks for sharing your good news with us ! Congrats !

Thanks y'all!

If I had won the title of Frugalest of the Frugal .... I would have won $100.00! Drat!!!

I keep hearing that hummers don't like wind chimes. LOL! Oh well, not the most practical of winnings (lol) ..... I'm just glad my idea was mentioned in the magazine! I can now say that I have been published! LOL!

Sandra - That's neat about getting your car in a hot rod mag! :-)

No! I didn't get but the one subscription copy. I looked today to see if I could find any on the magazine stands and had no luck. It figures! LOL! If I had noticed when I got the magazine a couple weeks ago, I could have probably gotten copies at the store. My bad .... for not noticing that my idea had actually made it into the magazine sooner. I'm a bit slow sometimes ..... LOL!

I submitted the idea back in October 2006! I almost forgot about it until I saw the photo and had a dejavu! LOL!

Oh well. (sigh)

Some of those magazines have an order form where you can order certain issues, just email them. Is your picture in it?

Blythe, CA(Zone 10b)

Becky, can you take a picture of it and post it for us, so we can see it now ? Don't make me wait...!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Take it somewhere and get them to scan it in and email it to your email address. Then you can post it!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Rox - No "my" photo is not in the article. Just a photo of my trellis idea. The article is not a big deal. lol

Sandra and Sheila - I would take a photo or scan it but someone in my family was looking at the article and smudged it (got the page wet), so it's really not worth bothering with now. Like I said ..... 3 seconds of fame..... no more, no less. LOL! It was just a bit of a thrill seeing my name in one of my favorite gardening magazines! :-) I just had to tell my fellow gardeners here as most folks would not appreciate something like that unless you are a gardener! :-)

Edinburg, TX

Woohoo!!! Congrats!!! I'll have to go out and buy a copy.

Hey Becky, I finally found the magazine with your 'piece' in it!!! I bought it and can copy you the page if you don't have it. The catch is...you have to send me one back with your autograph lol

Plus, I like the tip you gave, I'm going to try it! I found it at Lowe's, if you're looking for it.

Thanks y'all! It's not a big deal really. I just thought it was neat that something that I sent in via email made it into the magazine. I still have not received my wind chimes. Hmmm ...... maybe I should email and inquire about it?

I'll check Lowes next time I am in the store. I would like to have a copy that isn't smeared. LOL!
