Anemone blanda - purple and a Voodoo Lily bulb bloom

Trenton, MI(Zone 5b)

I've been growing this anemone for several years now and it has not really increased. I love the flower. It is the ground cover type. I had hoped it would spread. :o(

Edited to say: it's not really this blue, more of a light purple.

I planted this voodoo lily as soon as I got it from Meijers ... last year I watered it too much and killed the bulb. It grew and bloomed soooo fast. This bloom was taken at the very beginning of April. Thank God this one didn't 'stink' since it was in my house. LOL

Bummer about the Anemone blanda. I planted a bunch last year and they look so sparse this spring, I was hoping they would spread too. Tiny little things, aren't they?

I planted those and the florists poppy anemone. I bought last fall on impulse at nursery got home and soaking bulbs, and book said even though they sold them in my area the florist type wasn't hardy for my area. twice this winter the leaves came up and died. then this spring they came up again. we had a week long freeze that killed everything in bloom, but not my florist anemones. they flowered after that and are still blooming to beat the band. big and beautiful. Now the blue ones like yours I've only got 2 little violet sized flowers, utter dissappointment. are they supposed to be that dinky??

Mine are dinky too. If you look in PF the second picture shows new growth compared to a nickel. My guess is they are always small. That's why we need masses!

fooled me then I'll just buy those poppy anemones! I bought the same amount of both
but the red poppy anemones I've probably got about 10 blooms and when they finish more come on. I think I bought about 10 or so of each I don't remember. That's ashame because they really are pretty if they was just the same size as the poppy anemone

Hmmmm, I would have to say that mine are more the size of quarter. :o)
LOL
