mail downloading same mail over and over

My outlook express has downloaded the same 36 messages about 7 times now, I've rebooted, thinking it would fix the problem, but every time I open outlook the same 36 messages come back again. What's gong on? anybody ? what can I do to fix this,

I have a laptop with windows xp and outlook express.
