Tanglefoot

Have any of you used Tanglefoot to keep ants off the Cassia to protect the sulfur cats? I had some eggs but they never turn to cats that I can see. I do see lots of ants though.

Thanks,

Maggie

Interesting question. But I am not absolutely sure that ants attack and eat cats that are alive and well. Maybe I am ignorant, but I've never seen that in my own garden. Perhaps someone else here knows more info about that or can find some info about ants as caterpillar predators.

Fire ants are a major predator of cats here.....but I haven't seen fire ants up in the plants, but if your ants are carnivores, then they would eat the cats.

Are you using it as a barrier at the bottom? If the Sulfur cats pupate on the plant, I would think it's okay.

I was thinking of putting it on the bottom of the tree/shrub base. I'll also use it on the hummer feeder wire. They're sucking down MaiTais on float rafts in the ant moat.
