Interesting new bulb

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

I was snipping spent flowers from a large clump of species amaryllis, Hippiastrum ackermanii, today and I discovered one of the bulbs had produced flowers in a much lighter color. I have tagged the lighter one and will separate it to see if it blooms in the same color next year.

I can usually get hybrid amaryllis to bloom several times a year by lifting and drying them and starting again but I have never done this with the species. Do you think it would work?

Gee, I had no clue you could get them to bloom to so often. How long do you let them rest?
