Backyard Aviary

Although common, I never tire from taking photos of the Northern Cardinal and Blue Jay. Here are a few photos taken yesterday ......

#1 .... Northern Cardinal against a greening background.

#2 .... Blue Jay preparing to enjoy an afternoon peanut snack.

#3 .... Red-bellied Woodpecker (Male) wondering who stole the last peanut.

#4 .... Northern Cardinal (Female) waiting her turn.

#5 ... Another Male Northern Cardinal.

#6 .... American Goldfinch.

#7 ... Common Grackle.

#8 - Downy Woodpecker (Male) waiting his turn at the suet feeder.

#9 ... Another Blue Jay.

#10 .... House Finch.

#11 .... Red-bellied Woodpecker at suet feeder. Note the extension of her tongue.

Delightful pics! Especially my favorite Blue Jay with his peanut! :D

I really like the House Finch pic...great composition! I have RBW's, but still haven't mastered telling which are male and female yet!

Linthicum, a fantastic series! Every single pic. has excellent feather detail. Of course, the male Cardinals with green backgrounds are my favorite eye candy.

We must have a pair then, because I believe the coloring on the head is different. I'll have to go back through my picture collection and see if I can determine!

Linthicum, I had to come back for another look at the Cardinal pictures. They really are superb pictures.

Linth, you never tired of taking the pics and I never tire of seeing your pics - such fabulous photos! These are a real treat for a gloomy, cloudy, windy Pacific Northwest day.

Oh what beautiful shots linthicum! I love seeing your pictures! You always get great poses from your subjects!

We all know that it's quite unlike Linth not to respond to these last three posts. The reason is that he is not seeing them. He has decided to take a short sabbatical from DG.

I'm certain that he'll be back soon and we'll again see the unmatched clarity and sharpness of his work mentioned above. However those are technical items and secondary to the humble greatness of him as a man..

Thanks for letting us know dw. I sure hope he comes back as his photos are such a joy and inspiration to me.

I too am glad to hear what's going on with Linth - I miss him and his lovely photos. He's not only talented, but always so supportive of what everyone else is doing.
