Brug Problems

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

I have had brugs for many years and have some very large plants. Last year the older ones didn't come back as healthy as before and didn't bloom as often. They seemed to have problems with curled leaves. I have treated them all with Bayer Advanced 2n1 Systemic Rose and Flower care and they are coming back with the same problems this year.

Can anyone help I am attaching some photos and can do more if you need to see them.

As you can see by the cut limbs it is an old plant. Here it is year before last:

Here is another plant in another garden across from the one above having the same problems.

And here is a younger one right down the row from the sick older one that is georgous and about to bloom.

So as you can see I need your help. Do brugs get old and die out and need to be replaced or do I have some brug blight? Please help!

Mine look like that when they have broadmites. Spray Neem Oil especially on the underside of the leaves. Take advantage of our cool weather. Spray early in the morning. Neem Oil seems to burn the leaves when the weather is hot. Spray twice at least 7 days apart. If that doesn't result in healthy grown, then it could be a nutrient deficiency. There was a thread a while back, posted by Tonny, regarding that topic.

Yup... gotta catch em early! Some of mine outside did that when they first came back.. I remove those damaged leaves.. they won't recover anyway.
Per Kell's advice, I used Neem last year and back it up with Bayer 2 in 1 which worked great.
This year I'm using the stuff in the pic.. Rose & Flower by Schultz.. at Home Depot.. it is like $4.98 a bottle, but hey it is GREAT STUFF.. it also kills cats.. and that is a big problem here. I have been using it on new growth only and so far it's really great stuff.. even helps with fungus gnats inside! I can spray anything.. even seeds in soil before they germinate.. they still come up fine. Says you can use it on veggies too.

PS I put it in a different spray bottle to make it spray better and last longer.

Zzsbabies writes "it also kills cats.. and that is a big problem here."

Are you saying it will kill cats as in pet cats and kittens or is this referring to some sort of bug?

I really need to know since I am a huge pet lover and have cats.

Oh No!! I mean caterpillars! I'm sorry..
The moths have been visiting my petunias every evening.. I know it won't be long till the "Cats" will be eating leaves & blooms on everything.

Yesterday I got Fungicide 3-in-1 by Garden Safe at Wal-Mart. It says the ingredients are Neem Oil.

I see a precaution about Bees but not cats.

Thanks so much for replying, going out to spray now.

Neem didn't do anything to the catepillars around here.. I set out to get BT (caterpillar killer) but ended up with the spray pictured above since it kills soooo many different bugs! Safe for veggies too..

WHEW! Boy am I glad that "cat" misinterpretation was cleared up!
