In Memory of my FIL - climbing rose bush

My FIL passed away yesterday morning. He loved to garden and I wanted to pick something out to plant along my fence in memory of him. I was thinking of a climbing rose bush? Can you help me with this. I have no experiences with roses but I would like something that is resistant to disease etc. Oh yeah I don't want anything that would grow too wild either and something that is fairly common since I am hoping to find it at one of our garden centres. I am looking for either yellow, white, cream or maybe even pink. Thanks for your help in advance

Dawn, I'm sorry I'm so late getting to this. I know you already bought your rose, but I wanted to extend my condolences on your loss.

Thank you grampapa...that is very sweet of you. The funeral mass and burial was held this morning. It just seems so final now.

I think after the burial is the hardest time. Up until then everyone is together and so busy that you can kind of push it from your mind. Then everyone goes home and you are left with your thoughts. Healing and grieving take time. You can only be there for your family. The rose is a wonderful remembrance. Hugs. jan

It's nice to remember those we've loved with beautiful plants and I'm sure you and your family will have so many happy thoughts of better days when you see your climbing rose.
