Lauri...you're sugar bill must look worse than mine! I've been going thru the 10lb bag pretty quick lately...guess next time it's the 25lb'er ! With that many I'm sure you could get some to sit on your hand and drink. Yes, we want all the pics you have!
Great pic!
lauri, is this the same Anderson near Redding?
Thanks all. Yes my sugar bill is a tad high..............LOL I have even gone so far as to build a little roost for them to wait their turn on at the feeders, I'll try to get a pic today and show it.
Magpye....LOL they are on their way! This year is the most I have ever had, and they are hanging around it looks like too.
Giddy, yes it is the same Anderson just south of Redding.
Lauri
Wow! What a show! And so many different kinds!
I'm still waiting. Haven't had to raid my sugar bowl for emergency HB rations yet!
Wow, so many types! And your rufous don't bully the others? Not to cast doubt on your magnetic personality, but what do you suppose draws them there? Do your neighbors also have large numbers? Sorry, I sound like an inquisitor!! :-)
I thought so. I was born in Redding, I have a lot of family in that area:)
Cool Giddy!! If you ever get this way sometime soon maybe we can get together.
As for why so many...LOL I have no idea other than we have 2 pairs of year round Anna'a that I feed all winter too and also the yard is planted so as something is blooming most of the year, but most of it being early spring bloomers. The Rufous try to be bullys but I think there are too many others for it to work for long so the try to behave...The neighbors here have no flowers planted in their yards well the ones who are close to me..
Yea,
when I noticed where you were I found it odd. I don't remember seeing any Hums there thru the years. Have you ever gone up to Burney? Did you ever notice the log cabin towards the mount of Hatchet on the left about 1 mile before the lookout view?
That was my grandparent's place for over 50 years and my grandmother was a huge gardener of flowers and I never saw them there either.
You are lucky you have so many...I have only seen 4 this year. lol
We were just up there twice 2 months ago for my grandmother's death and funeral. I have tried to move back home many times, but it just never worked out...I love it up there:)

Some years we have none and other years we have tons, so I guess this is the year. Plus with the weird weather we have been having here I guess they decided to stay.
I know where that cabin is as I drove by it daily for about 4 months going to and from work up on 89 out of Cayton Valley. I have relatives that live there still.
Well,
that property is where I grew up on all vacations and every chance I got. It made me sick when my grandparents had to sell. I like the owner and all, I just hope he is taking care of everything the way my grandparents did. I haven't had the heart to drive by since we helped them move to Redding. Every grat childhood memory I have has to do with that property..sigh...if you ever go by it again, wave for me ;)
