Big box Hoya needs ID

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I was in Lowes and found a hoya in the clearance section. It had no tag.
Can someone let me know what it is, if possible?
In the pic starting from top:
noid
noid
lacunosa
pubicalyx
Hope this helps by showing leaf sizes. If not, I guess I'll have to wait for blooms.
Thanks a bunch.

Are you asking about the two top leaves (NOIDS)? Can you show a picture of the plant and the back of the leaves on a vine...if you compare the backs of the leaves on the vine with those of your H. lacunosa, are the similar?

Also, are those flecks on the leaves....?

I was also thinking that the top one could be the speckled Lacunosa....

The first picture is of the plant. I has larger leaves than the lacunosa. The back of leaves are lighter in color. Newer leaves are mottled with light green. Older leaves on plant loose the lt green color and are solid green. The employee at Lowe's said she thought it was a mini green leaf plant.

this is the back of the vine. the leaves are ligher in color.

the final picture shows the mottled leaf. most of the new leaves on the vine are mottled this way.

My guess is still a "speckled" Lacunosa. Very nice plant by the way. Just an aside, Mini Green Leaf is usually EA's label of Lacunosa. It seems the employee has seen EA Lacunosas in the store before and thinks it looks like that...but I'm sure she's no hoya expert :)
The leaves do look big, but I've seen many different Lacunosa variations.

The vine and the backs of the leaves don't show the tiny little advanticious roots that always form just a speck under the leaf node. Even on the very speckled leaf lacunosa they are obvious... 'Tis a wonder. Perhaps in time, and with flowers, the truth will out.

I hate to throw this out into the mix, but there are a lot of lipstick plants that look very similar in growth to hoyas. Is it possible it is a lipstick plant?

Ann, that was my guess too.

I am sure that I bought a verigated mini lipstick befored, thinking that it was a hoya. It sure can be hard to tell sometimes. I have the speckled lacuanosa, and it isn't yellow, it is silver speckled, much like pubicalyx.

Well, it looks more like a hoya to me. Some sort of lacunosa probably, but I think the molted look may be a deficiency or virus of some sort.
It is pretty whatever it is. I would give it some fertilizer & keep it in good light & see if the leaves stay the same or maybe you will get a bloom soon (lacunosas are good bloomers in spring & summer). The bloom will tell for sure what it is.

I took another pic on the back side of the leaves. There are little nubs that you can see in the picture. AlohaHoya, are these the roots you were looking for, or are they something else. This plant sure is a mystery. I have a lipstick plant, but the stems and leaves are different from this plant.

Ooops...leaf node definitely not any hoya I have seen....I think perhaps you DO have a Lipstick Plant (spell it...heck, I can't even pronounce it!!!).

I think I may have this same EXACT plant in my bedroom with the speckling and all and I bought it as a variegated lipstick plant. I have 3 lipstick plants and none of mine have the fuzzy leaves. 2 of them look like lacunosa's definately and the third is a pagoda lipstick which has the most beautiful foliage I have ever seen!

Here's a picture of the pagoda, I'll try to get you some pictures of the other 2 this weekend.

hi Kim
This plant sure could have fooled me. By your pic, I see the same type of nubs on the stems by the leaves. I guess I reallly have a lipstick plant, and not a hoya. Very dissapointing. I thought I had a great find. Oh well, back to looking!
Thanks to all of you in helping identify this plant. Now it's off to work I go.
Have a great day.
