Lovely Tall Red Cannas for trade

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

I have been digging out tall red cannas and they MUST go NOW! I have root competition for my just planted oak in the center of the island and they are moving in on my glads. I will ship them to you this week through Thursday and again on Monday. I have them pictured in the PF's as red dazzler..

http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/37520/index.html

but to be quite honest, I'm starting to doubt if that's what they really are.. I don't think that's what they are actually..

I purchased them in a Daves co-op years ago, and the co-op threads were taken down for a while and that info is gone.. I do have the name, but it is on my other hard drive which is not hooked up.. so..... that is what they look like.. I should have the picture removed until I determine their real name..

Anyone??

If you want to trade, great.. I'm wide open to other plants I don't have. I have both sun and shade.

If you are a new member and have nothing to trade, I have been there and I will be opening this up to for postage only to keep them out of the trash. Please post here to let me know and after all trades have been filled, then I will send for postage onlys.

I'm easy and want to get these out of here and not in the trash if at all possible. I have a huge pile of them available. Thanks

:)

Susan

Hi, I would love some of your gorgeous Cannas. Would you be interested in a few no name Iris or the old fashioned type daylilies...I think alot of people refer to these as ditch lilies?
I really don't have much else except Mimosa (Silk) Tree seedlings. These can be invasive but are so beautiful when in bloom and all the butterflys and little hummingbirds love them. Also have the common honeysuckle...which is most certainly invasive if left to spread.
Just let me know if you are interested in any of these.

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

Hi Jane, Thanks! I have both the wild and cultivated honeysuckle.. and I love them both.. The wild smells so much better, but my cultivated has great blooms. We let it grow on our back yard forsythias and it makes the whole yard smell sweet. I enjoy the mimosas in our area, but I just don't think I have the room for one, as I've been planting oaks all over the back yard and they will get huge.

I think I have the ditch lilies, but I really do love Irises and I don't need a name to grow them, so iris would be great. Do you know the bloom color?? No biggie if not.

I will d-mail my address and please send me yours with how many cannas you can grow! :)

Thanks
:)

Hi Susan,

I would also love some Cannas. We just bought the property last year so I don't have much to trade. I do have a lot of Sweetgum seedlings, blue eyed grass (I don't know if that will ship well) and cear and Virignia pine seedlings. I know you said you had planted oaks already so if you want to hold my request until you are ready for postage only, count me in, please. I'll dmail you my address and send postage if the cannas last that far, please let me know....

Hi Susan I would love to have some. I have Virgins Bower that I can dig, also tons of goose-neck for shade if you don't mind invasive LOL! Cherry bells campanula, tons of iris without names, I have lots of phlox too. Tons of seeds. Lots of stuff I can check on if you let me know what you like. The red cannas for some reason are hard to get here.

I don't keep a plant trade list but I can do an inventory for you. And I have lots of pictures I can send.

Any more folks for Monday?? I should have taken a picture of all these tubers. It took me a good part of the day to get them up and it was more than I originally planted for sure!! And I still have my circle planting..it's just a little tighter with cleaner lines now is all. You ladies plant them in good soil and they will multiply like bunnies!!

Susan

Edited to say.. it will come addressed from our family owned swimming pool company in Atlanta, so your not surprised.

Susan I will get a list together for you and Dmail you. What did you like from the pics? I have lots of seed too. Give me an idea of your taste. The more the merrier and I can share with my neighbor.

Susan,
I just want to thank you for all your time and effort that you put into digging, boxing and getting them to the post office. It's a lot of work, thank you for sharing with us.

You should be taking a hot bath tonight after all that work.

God bless you!

Would like to trade, I have Missouri Primrose, coneflower purple, stella d'oro daylilly, and stonecrop autumn joy if you are interested. These will be freshly dug I don't have any in pots already started. P.S. Please feel free to give me advice.

Thanks,

Susan, oh your aching back! I don't know which is worse, diggin'em up or diggin'em in. Got one grouping hole dug, several more to go. Oh my aching back! LOL
I'll have several things at the RU for you, including the Nellie Moser Clematis and Texas Star Hibiscus, for these wonderful thousands of canna rhizomes you sent me. Also, I'd like to pay the shipping on these since the cannas wouldn't have lasted above ground until the RU. I didn't see the ship amt on the box, just d-mail me.

Again, many thanks for sharing your garden!

Deborah

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

Deborah.. Did you get them already?? Wow, that was fast.. but I guess were in the same state. Your a doll... actually, I just learned on the canna forum, that they will last much longer than I had thought...so long as they stay DRY!!
I had some sent in plastic bags for a co-op and some were mushy when they got here.. So, I had just figured they didn't keep.. but that's not true :)

So.. you got thousands!???!! gee.. I must have miscounted some :) You will have thousands if you give them great soil and let them run!!

I'll see you at the GARU.. happy planting till then! :)

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

I just got an email back from Horn Canna farm.. They confirm that they ARE Red Dazzler cannas. I just wasn't sure as the other cannas pictures have darker edging on the leaves and these are pure green leaves.. Okay Red Dazzler it is.

Susan

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I dmailed back to you Susan. My first post when I ask for advice was because I have never traded before. Guess I forgot to put that in. LOL...

Wish I could leave cannas in the ground all year, it is plant in the ground in spring and dig up in the fall or they will freeze, but they give such an air of the tropics that they will be worth it. Building a new garden room and want to put them along one side of the porch.

Thanks again,
Joyce

Dallas, GA(Zone 7b)

Susan-
I think most (or all) of my cannas died over the winter. The bulbs in the pond turned to mush, and I only see a couple of new shoots coming up from where they were in pots. So I'd love some if you have any left.

I can dig up some turtle heads (these really like the edge of the woods and have multiplied like crazy for us). Also, was it you that wanted daphne? I have a couple of very very tiny plants that I took root about a month ago. Also, some water celery and Lousiana irises if you're interested.

I'm in Dallas/Acworth area and drive to the Windy Hill area a day or two a week. Do you think we could get together in person?

jo

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

Hi Jo, It's been a very active weekend and I need to get my act together here again..

For those of you that were expecting Monday shipment.. make that Tues!

Yes Jo, I have a few trades going and once I get those taken care of, let me see what is left and we can take it from there :)

Thanks

Susan

I would love to trade or sase for a few of your cannas. Thanks!

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

Hi Canna.

i do have some more canna tubers left. However, it is very limited I will be d-mailing the offer to those who previously asked. I wont be doing any more for Postage as some (very few and NOT traders listed here... From d-mail from the Canna forum) of the people who I sent tubers for postage have not even been able to thank me for getting them or contacted me about postage. I'm sure I need to be the one to contact and give amount due, but I'm busy.....I still have dahlia tubers that need to be put in.

Some of you have been absolutely amazing, wonderful and so much fun to trade with. People like you keep me on Daves!! :)

Thanks

Susan

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Susan, If you have any left over after you fill the other requests, I'd love to trade with you. Would also like to have one of the dahlia tubers. Please check out my trade page. Thanks!
