It's a peony. I don't remember which variety though.

Found the tag - it's Bowl of Beauty.

Very pretty ! I don't think I've ever seen one...darn, I don't think they can grow here either !

It is gorgeous!!! Congratulations!!!

They do grow here. They don't like to be disturbed once they've in the ground though. I've seen some fabulous old peonies at some old cemeteries in the DFW area.

Here's a pic that has more of the plant in it.

Just beautiful!

Southlake, TX(Zone 8a)

That is gorgeous! I didn't know either that they could grow that far south. Now I will be watching the cemeteries to see some in bloom. Anything that can survive in the cemeteries with no care is a winner. I believe that is how the Henry Duelberg Salvia was found, on his cemetery plot.
Thanks for sharing the peony photo.

Very pretty!!!

Very pretty. I am now tempted to try peonies again. My grandmother grew them up north and I have always loved them.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

My grandmother grew them, too! And lilacs... I've been wishing ever since I started gardening that I could get some of both, but they don't like Houston, so I'll just enjoy looking at yours. :-)

I grew up with my mom growing peonies, so they will do well in our area. As much as we need the rain, I hate to think about what it's done to my bloom. :( I planted it a couple of years ago & this is the first bloom on it.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I love peonies, but they just don't survive the combination of Houston's high heat and humidity, as least not for me. I wish they would grow here. If anybody finds one that tolerates Houston, please post the info.
