No, I don't think they are the same species because the leaves on mine are thinner and taller.
Also, yours has red marginal thorns and mine dosen't have the red marginal thorns, as you can see from this closeup of mine, here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/148515/
I don't recognize yours.
I think your second photo looks like a Yucca instead of an Agave.
It has trunks and a very large root base
And has no marginal thorns at all.
