Help! Drake isn't breeding & ducks quit laying!

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

What the heck is going on with my Muscovies?!?
First... in one of my breeding pens, my 2 yr. old ripple Muscovy drake hasn't been breeding his girls (at all!). He's healthy and normal looking and acting in every respect...other than loss of libido and now all my Muscovy ducks have quit laying and they aren't all broody. Only 4 are setting on eggs.
Do non broody ducks quit laying in the presense of setting ducks?
There hasn't been any major changes in their feed (they get duck pellets & whole oats, 2 to 1)) or environment other than our cold Spring.
Any ideas?

When I had setting muscovies the other girls kept laying until they had another full nest. Are you sure they don't have another nest off in the weeds somewhere? I had nests under the porch, in the barn ,in a log and on a shelf in a cardboard box. One female sat on 26 eggs and hatched out 21 babies. They are awfully cute.

Nope... they are all in their breeding pens at this time.
No place to hide eggs.

are they getting enough greens ?
sometimes that throws them off
or going thru a molt?

They are in huge grassy pens.
No molting...they usually do that late summer - fall.

predetors lurking?

First off I want to say you have THE most beautiful muscovies I've seen. I've lurked your website a few times *wink*

Now is it possible that it's a combination of weather and perhaps lack of competition... The weather in Michigan has been so confusing. And while I don't know how ducks operate I know other birds can be inspired by the sight and / or the sounds of other birds breeding behavior. Is it possible you have the opportunity to set the stage for him and maybe let him think he's got some competition.....

Might be worth a try. Always worked for my cockatiels and lovebirds...lol.

crestedchik...no predator or dog problems.

Thanks for your comments and input Julie. ;o)
There are other drakes on my place and I have even put another drake in the pen with "Dudley" (his new name) and all he does is chase the other drake around. It doesn't seem to stimulate him to breed.
I know our weather has been on the cold side and I am sure that doesn't help but I would think the increasing daylight hours would be more of a determining factor as to whether they are breeding or not than the cold weather....but maybe it is on and off cold weather.
I'm so sick of it.
Some of the girls are starting to lay again but now it seems like all my drakes are being lazy about breeding which seems odd for the usually over sexed Muscovy drakes. Guess this is just a dumb-duck year.
