Very nice! Did you grow it from seed?

yes

Mine was doing good too until I caught my grandson shaking the bottle. The plant sank to the bottom and turned brown and died. I thought of burying the grandson along side the lotus. He is 16 and should know better.

Lol Start another one

I put all the seeds in an orange juice bottle with pond water 1 seed germinated and the rest are just sitting there. I keep telling them any time now but they just sit there. LOL!!!

Jeri,

Silly question, did you scarify them? Using a pair
of Robo Grips on a belt sander is the only way to
go for us. LOL.

We just do so, then toss them into a 2 liter bottle on
top of the filing cabinet in a sunny room. In just
days, they are at the top of the bottle.

Here are a few we threw into the bottle Monday,
except the long one, which is at the top of the water,
having been tossed in a couple days earlier.

I did mine the hard way with a finger nail file. You think if I scape on them some more some of the rest will germinate?

LOL, we used what we had at the time.

Jeri,

When you filed them, how far down did you go?

Are any of the seeds floating?

Cool tips for scarification of Lutus seeds. I wished I had this knowledge last year so I could have propagated some new one. However, the parent plant, sitting in a shallow tub of water did sprout and flourish this year. I harvested a handful of seeds last year, didn't know what to do with them, so left them out for chipmonds' treats. (Not intended, but they found them regardless). Thanks all.

The 1 that had the plant come out of it is floating now. The rest are sitting on the bottom.
