Pot that little one up in a well draining soil... water once and then put it in a place where it will get lots of heat and bright light... give it time to start growing again. ONly water when getting very dry. Once it has some full leaves, you can start watering a little more. As for the large one... leave it in a moderately cool and dry place for a week or two to let the end heal then, pot it up the same way. It will take that one longer to start growing since it does not have any roots. Before potting you might want to put some rooting hormone on the end ... one that contains an anti fungal in it. Time, heat and patience will reward you. Just don't water too much. Rot can happen easily. Too little is better than too much when it comes to water and Plumerias.

I am new to these myself but have learned a lot in the past 9 months.

Gail, I would pot up the rooted one in a one-gallon container with good potting soil and water in with Superthrive or B-1 to ease transplant shock. Let your big one's end dry and callous in a cool dry place. Dip the end in rooting hormone powder if you have it. After about a week, pot the bottom 2-3 inches in potting soil and place on a heat source.

Gail - Tammie and Clare are right. That is what I suggest also.
I am just wondering where these came from. It looks like they've been travelling a while....

they came from Buried Treasure, but the 6 adeniums I ordered have the same dry roots as one of the plumerias. I sent them to the girl from Asia who loves adeniums (I had given her 3 of them because she is the best withthem and loves them so much).....she said she would get my adeniums started for me.
The long plumeria is green on the top and so is the little one even though the roots are dry looking.
Thanks so much for Clare's class of 101....and Lhasa Lovers's advice......

While I have you Dutchlady1...you were so nice to send the cuttings of that beautiful croton....but I have the long stems still in water as I don't know what to do to root them either.....two lost all foliage and the small one still has all its foliage....how do I root the crotons?? pretty please!!

Gail, the little one is rooted, and even though the roots appear to be dry, once they are planted and watered in, they will plump up again. You can put that one out in the warmest spot in the yard and water well. Plumerias actually love water, especially with your Texas heat so, as long as you have well-draining potting soil (like adeniums love also), watering regularly is not a problem and is in fact beneficial. The cutting looks good and just needs to callous before planting, again using well-draining soil. That one should be placed on the hottest source possible, like a heat mat or concrete. Water in and then water when the soil looks dry. Again, watering is not a problem this time of year and will keep the cutting from becoming desiccated.

how do I say thank you for all that i am learning in such a short time.......Clare, I just remembered that my Asian friend, Mai, always puts her adeniums on the concrete...although she has not said anything in particular about the subject, I do remember that hers are always on the concrete in the sun (the adeniums) or in her house at night whenever it is cool at all. I am going to try this method with the plumerias rather than my heating mat with full sprectrum lighting.
thanks again

Gail, adeniums are in the same family as plumerias and like the same conditions for sure; although, I think adeniums are happy with filtered sun more so than plumerias. Anyway, that's great and good luck!
