I only just noticed them today. Have they been around for a while? I couldn't find any info on the Dave threads about them.
What up?

Ads on Dave's?
Oh! I hope DG doesn't turn into Gardenweb. I won't even go there anymore because of all the ads and pop-ups.
I've been noticing them for awhile - I'm sure it has something to do with the recent sale, but if they stay discreet like they are so far, I think we can live with 'em.
Hmm, I'm getting big ugly eHarmony ads. Too bad. I wonder if Subscribers get fewer or smaller ads. I think I am a paid subscriber, though I can't remember when I last paid. Maybe it has expired and I didn't get a notification. I did change my email address recently.

It was because my sub had lapsed. I didn't get notified because the email address was out of date. I re-upped and the ads have gone away.
I am glad that this is still an option. When Gardenweb was sold that option was lost and everyone had to see ads. It's one of the reasons I stopped going there as much.

Glad that worked for you, jb!! I've only been seeing little nursery ads, etc. that don't pop up or blink or whatever, just sit quietly by themselves. I presume you are getting those?
No ads at all. Is it possible you're sub has lapsed? I went to my profile page and found that mine had.

My subscription is in force and I have been seeing ads too...but none today. They were over to the right of the screen.
My subscription is paid through May of 2008 - I saw one ad earlier today (Gardener's Supply) that was just sitting to the right of the screen as Beth said, with another small ad at the bottom that said "this forum is sponsored by . . ."
I just found another thread with an ad, this time for Nature Hills Nursery - I have no idea how they choose which threads get them. New threads maybe? Both threads that had ads today were new today.
Subscribers will see see an ad on "sponsered" forums, for example, J.L. Hudson sponsors the Seed Germination forum. For subscribers, if you don't want to see any of these ads just go to your "My Info" page, click on preferences, click on Ads on the left, then uncheck sponsored ads. Hope this helps.
Thanks, pardalinum, they actually don't bother me at this time, but if they ever do, I'll follow your advice!!!!
Juniorballoon; a hale and hearty hello! I was just wondering where you'd gone to and how your open house/garden tour ever turned out last year. Do you have any new landscaping you're working on?
Hi Poochella,
The garden tour went very well. I was pleased with the way things came together. It made us speed up some projects and we are still enjoying the many finishing touches we added. The turnout was rather low as the county decided to begin construction on that weekend and completely closed the main road out to our house. I went out earlier in the day and put out some signage and a few people were intrepid enough to follow them out. Despite the turnout it was still great fun.
My big project this year is finishing the interior of the greenhouse. Running electricity to power fans and louvres and thermostasts oh my. I have many flats of seeds that are germinating. Some anenome's, penstemon, alliums, aquilegia, codonopsis and lots more. I discovered last year that the grenhouse can become a killing zone when the sun comes out. For now I am careful to open the doors every morning. Hopefully when all the fans are in place it will keep the temps down. One day last year I forgot to open the doors and it was over 120 by the time I got home. Needless to say I lost many seedlings and scorched some hostas that were getting ready to put out in the garden.
I see that you are collecting trees for Murrmur. Looks like a great project. Are you still looking for more? I have a cedar or two that have sprouted in the garden that I am about to rip out. I could pot them up and save them for you if you'd like.
Hope your gardening is going well.
