Hi Everyone,
I bought some copies of america violet associations magaines off ebay. They sure put out a nice magazine, I learned a ton of new stuff just from one issue. Do any of you guys belong to the ava. It seems like it might be worth it for the magazine alone.

Also is there any african violet society groups where you live. What kind of things do you do. Do you have regular meetings. I would love to attend meetings at one of these but although we have a local garden group there is no violet groups (that I know of). Maybe I should start one. lol

I'm not a member of AVSA. I did meet a lady(Lucille) that is and she gave me a magazine. They are great for the info! I went to a meeting in March that Lucille hosted. There was four of us. We just talked AVs and repotted some.

Morning achoo!
I thought the magazines were very infomative. I bought 5 of them from 1999. There was an article on growing violets on shelves in your windows that I thought was very interesting. I'm going kick my cactus to the curb and put some violets in my kitchen window instead and see what happens,

It also talked about starting an african violet club in your town and suggested having a african violet garage sale. The only thing you sell are violets and related items. Than whoever shows up to your sale you talk them into being part of a violet club, lol.
I thought that was a pretty innovative idea, sneaky but innovative.

Well worth being a member of AVSA and highly recommended. The mag is wonderful for photos, informative articles, vendors, and show results to see the winners, etc. and more. Great idea, glamourpuss, about how to 'lure' other like minded folks to meet.
