It not being outdoor gardening weather here at the moment ( snow/rain/wind!) a friend and I went to a local greenhouse where I knew they had a couple of giant epies! They have "pink, red and white" They do cuttings every year and have good sized baskets for sale. Turns out the white is really E.oxypetalum. For some reason they have mixed cuttings of the E.Oxy and the red epie( which may be an Akermanii) in same basket. So I bought a pink one and she bought the red and white and we are going to split them up so we both have some of each- there have been 5-6 cuttings in each basket so should be easy to split.
Here is the mother plant of the pink epie. Small flower and very delicate looking.
What I bought today
WOW!!!!!! Lucky you..beautiful...Deb
The pink has been tentatively identifed as Disocactus Phyllanthoides (!) 'Deutsche Kaiserin' or a hybrid of same.
I will be back there in a couple of weeks and try to get a better pic of the pink and hope the buds on the red ( which are huge) are open and then can get a positive ID on both of them.
