My Bingo Prize Arrived Today!

(Zone 1)

Oh, I'm so excited .... and have Starfly/Eunice to Thank for my 3rd place Bingo Prize. Her generous gift certificate from Bluebird Greenhouse allowed me to get 3 new AV's and of course they sent a freebie too!

Here's a pic:

LEFT - 'Celery'
BACK MIDDLE - ' Chanticleer'
RIGHT - 'Spring Kiss'
FRONT CENTER - 'Rebel's Easter Treat'

My camera needs batteries charged (still) ... but I think you can tell from the pic which ones are which. Now, since I just finished mowing my lawn and edging the walkway and sweeping the walk and driveway, I guess I will go re pot my new babies!

Again, Eunice .... THANK YOU! What a very generous gift!

Lin

forgot to say: 'Chanticleer' is one I've been thinking of ordering too! So, for the freebie, they chose a good one!

wonderfull.thoese are nice looking, some has buds, can,t wait to see them in full bloom

i,m still waiting on mine, hopefully soon order my 2 streps on the 13, should be soon

(Zone 1)

Eunice .... You should probably call Bluebirds if that's where you ordered your Strep's from! If you placed your order on the 13th you should have gotten them by now! You just placed this order for my Bingo AV's on the 16th and I got them today, the 19th! Usually BB ships within a couple of days of you ordering. Did they tell you they were out of stock on the particular ones you ordered?

Great bingo prize! I'm anxious to see what 'Celery' will look like. I've heard it grows upwards but have never seen one in person.

How much fun you are having, Lin!!!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Oooo, I like 'Celery'!

(Zone 1)

Yep! I worked in the yard all afternoon, mowed, edged, raked, swept! Two cans and three garbage bags full of twigs, leaves and debris for pick up tomorrow! And, I repotted my 4 new babies, plus two others that have been needing it for quite some time. I spent an hour watering plants on the pool deck and on the covered deck. I need to water some in my Florida room, but it will have to wait until tomorrow .... I am tired and need a shower!

So much fun though ....... I love working outside when the weather is nice! We are back up to @ 80 but the humidity is low so it makes it perfect for working out doors! Unfortunately, the low humidity, high winds and not much rain have put us under Red Flag Fire Warnings for a few weeks now! We had a lot of smoke day before yesterday from a fire way up in Georgia! That just shows you how strong those winds were. Thank goodness today was calm ... a gentle breeze .... Heavenly!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I know someone who lives in Jacksonville, Fla. and she was saying how she was affected by all the pollution from the massive fire in Georgia. Lots of eye and throat irritation. Glad you had a great day working outdoors.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Wow, that is a great bunch of av's. I love bluebird greenhouses. I got 2 huge av's from them last week.

They look great, and I love when they come with buds. sounds like your keeping busy outdoors. Me too, I was digging up older roses and replacing with new ones I want (but didn't have room for). I'm shot. Even my fingers hurt...lol

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

maureen, this 65 year old silly gardener sitting here is beyond exhaustion....join me.....I spent all day yesterday on the front porch, dividing house plants, potting up a size, etc......today I spend on Av's, etc in the house.....
I just want rows of the Simplicity going down the road and fence line.....we have go get those in the ground either in fall or in January or February at the latest....
I would love to grow roses, but it is not easy to do the pretty fancy ones!!!!
PS.....I love bluebird, too.....just got my first order from them....they are big av's......I received mine week before last and I am waiting to post pictures until they are all blooming....
Be sure and show us yours.....

I love those new Knockout Roses .... they are soooo easy! Just plant them and they grow! Make a wonderful hedge from what I hear. I have three planted in a flower bed inside our screened pool enclosure. They bloom like crazy most of the year even though they get filtered sun through the screen. I have another bed with 5 or 6 out in my back yard and another two that I need to transplant because they are being shaded by other plants that have grown tall. The Knockout roses only get to about 3-4 feet tall, don't have the heavy fragrance as other roses do, but they sure are pretty.

Gail, you and I sure have the same taste in a lot of things! I have wanted a Simplicity Rose Hedge for years, I would like it to run the entire length of our property line along the street in front of the house! It would be the perfect spot, full sun all day! Trying to convince Hubby has been another thing!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

My Aunt Jo did that and the pink simplicity is the only color that smells as good as a hybrid tea....I have been looking at the Knockouts in every nursery around, but they don't have the fragrance or 'loveliness' of the pink simplicity.......keep trying to convince your husband....you can order the bareroot from Jackson and Perkins and they are so much less money....my only problem in the past in ordering was that they didn't deliver them to me until it was too hot in New Braunfels.....I am thinking that I may order them to be delivered in the fall....
I was reminiscing the other day after Aunt Jo had been buried.....took this picture outside her back door....she had them also all around the pool area with rocks on top of them.....and everywhere else she planted them....
This rose has been in the ground for at least 20 years......
