Hi... I am new to D'sG but not to gardening in general. I consider myself to have a pretty good green thumb, and I grow a wide variety of plants. I am, however, limited to indoor and container gardening, as I live in an apartment. I have all south facing windows and a nice 6x12 balcony, so I have lots of light and a nice summer place for plants outside.
I would like to have a plumeria. Based on my circumstances, which one would you recommend? It could live outdoors almsot six months a year, but would have to winter inside, still receiving good light. Would you recommend a cutting or seed to start (I saw seed available in one of my catalogs)?
Thanks alot...
Karen
Recommendations for "newbie"
Seedlings take 3-5 years to flower from sowing and, sometimes, longer than that. Seedlings grow very big, very fast and need lots of room. Given your current conditions, a dwarf plumeria could be happy at your place for a few years. It would eventually get big, and you would have to root prune or take new cuttings and start over. My recommendation would be a grafted Dwarf Singapore Pink from Florida Colors: http://www.floridacolors.com/
Karen - hello neighbor!!! I'm sending you a dmail.
