My Brugs have been in the garage (unheated) for the winter. They got to come out during the days for a while because it was very warm, and began to grow leaves, Then we got knocked back by a horrible 3 night freeze, and I'm afraid that it hit them hard. The trunks are more shriveled than they were (and farther down), but some new leaves are still green. I've watered a bit, and will get them in the sun, but should I be cutting back the shriveled parts of the stems? This is my first time with them, so be gentle :).Thanks, Margo
Waking Brugs up?
I wouldn't cut them back yet. If it's warm enough for them to stay outside just harden them off and let them go. Once they seem to be producing a little new growth then you can fertilize them. I think they will be fine especially if they still have green leaves. Once they start to grow you can trim them up a bit and you will know better which parts are still growing and which are dead
Ohhhh, another "Margo" :))
What will we do now, LOL :)) Nice to meet you. I love Brugs too...most of mine are recovering well from the cold snap we had a few weeks back. The potted ones made it to the greenhouse, the inground ones....they have baby shoots coming up for the 2nd time. About 10 haven't shown any sign of returning but I am still watering, lightly fertilizing and praying.
God bless, Margo
Please don't worry:)). I have been signing as _(the other) Margo_, but forgot what forum I was on. I am very new to Brugs, and have no idea what I'm doing, so no-one will mistake my posts for yours, I'm sure! I'm usually the "second" one, but not many people spell it right.....

Being new to brugs maybe I can also get some advice? I have 3 cuttings(in pots) that all have new growth and look strong. Do they need sun or can they do just as well on the patio in filtered light? It's heating up here and I'm afraid they will burn in this heat. I also lost some cuttings they just didn't root. When is the best time to take cuttings?
