Who Pooped!! Your pictures are so cute. I have a little one who we are now calling bossy, she runs through the pile and get's everyone going. It's so nice to pick up a chick without having to worry about mama silkie, her babies run like the wind when you try and pick them up, when you do get them the scream like wild banchies. The ameraucan just look around are so gentle. I have to get pictures of there little chubby cheeks, so cute.

Texas, I thought the pheasant would be smaller, we have some in the bator now.

The silkies will do that..LOLOLOLOLO... I got bit from the male silkie and it was funny but didn't herat at all...

Love it ! Tooo Sweet and Mama is so proud!!!!

Do you see all the feathers in the pictures? I thought at first she was molting, but today when we gave her the new babies she plucked out more feathers under her wings. I guess she's making room for the other babies under her wings.

To cute babys playing with mommy.. Is there a book about chickens and how they are born NB was asking about wear baby chicks come from??? He is 7 years old and I thought a book might show him....
Tracey

Robertsville, MO

Eu, NB would like to know how old is your barred rocks???
Tracey

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

Tracey, I have 1 Hen that is 3 years old," Mama BarRock" , and one Roo that is 1 year old, "CockleLooLoo". Then I have 5 chicks that are going on 6 weeks!

Robertsville, MO

Eu, I have 7 barRocks and they are 16 weeks as of saturday
do you know when they will start laying the eggs????
Texas had bad weather and torandaos to NB said thats bad. He said we will have one torandao to.. He is almost right... NB is my
so he brought home a chicken book for me to read and it was funny he asked me to read it to him and some of it hes not ready for.... I didn't get a egg yesterday but I did today... Why is that??? The other silkie female is not laying eggs... May be she will start soon I hope????? KB said heary up ladys or you will be for dinner... Not me!!!!
Tracey

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

Tracey I would think that your 16 week old chicks should lay in about another 2 to 3 months but most certainly by next Spring!
Some chickens only lay every other day. My Japanese bantam and My Polish do that. then only 4 or 5 eggs, then stop for a while. then when they get broody they lay another "clutch" of eggs, but only if their harmones tell them that the weather and laying conditions are right! Honestly I have had older hens in the past that wouldnt lay until I redid their nests with fresh hay!
You know , I wouldnt worry too much about your little man! He obviously loves the chicks, and his curiosity will help him learn all he needs to know about them by helping with their care . He probably will be teaching you a thing or two about them before long!
Yep , the bad weather in Texas is terrible! I pray every one got through it okay!

Robertsville, MO

Eu, I hope Texasgardenmom is okay... NB said he wants more eggs... I told him to be passont.. Sorry my spelling is bad.. KB said no to hatching chicks but he has named the rooster Mr. Barberaty. The 2 females are Mrs.Barberaty, And Misteris Barberaty silkies.
LOLOLOLOLOLO..
I had to laugh at the names KB picked its from the South Park episode....
How are your mom and dad??? Is the chicks getting big????
Red sex links are 5 Weeks old today.. They are getting big..
One looks like a rooster. Its the light colored one my mom was out here yesterday and said it was but I can't tell.. I will try to get
a pix of it today...
Tracey

Robertsville, MO

This might be a rooster..The white one ....
