peachespickett,
That's an excellent photo!
One thing, this is the 'lecontei' subspecies though.
There is a separate entry page for Ferocactus cylindraceus subsp. lecontei.
Located here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/99893/

It is the subspecies that is native to southern Nevada.

Compare with these photos:
http://www.cactus-art.biz/schede/FEROCACTUS/Ferocactus_acanthoides/Ferocactus_acanthodes_lecontei/Ferocactus_acanthoides_lecontei.htm

Would you like to have your photo moved there?

Xeno.

It is a great photo. Caught my eye immediately.

El Cajon, CA

I daresay this is not a Ferocactus.
I cannot see any white and thin radial spines F. lecontei should have, but I vaguely see something white in the apex of some heads and very clearly see at least 7 offsets of same size and one main head only a bit bigger, both typical features of Echinocactus polycephalus.

I do believe Jordi is right.
It's E. polycephalus.

peachespickett,
This photo should be moved to the Echinocactus polycephalus page located here:
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/83380/
You can accomplish this by sending in an 'Error Report' and ask for it to be moved.
