Quick question...

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

My potatoes and onions arrived 2 weeks ago, but we've had one hard freeze after the other, then a little snow and sleet, and tomorrow we are expecting a nor'easter. Today is 56 degrees and sunny.

Do you think it would be ok for me to begin planting the spuds and onion sets? I don't want to kill them off, but I'd really like to get them in.

Same question regarding my spinach seeds. Can they go in today or should I wait another week?

Alexandria, IN(Zone 6a)

Good questions. I have onions that would be alright to set out temperature wise I think, but it is too wet where they go....yes they need set out soon. My potato area is raised with lots of sand in it and gets dry faster....still, what is the hurry on potatoes.....legend? I have some spinach in pots, but I think they are better off for a few more days when it surely will warm some.

Sequee, I'm in the same boat. But I'm waiting till after this storm. All the forecasters are so hyped up about it, so I figure if it's half as bad as they are predicting, I should wait to plant my spuds.

Thanks guys! I got so busy potting up today I ran out of time anyway! God's way of protecting me from myself, I guess!

Will the REAl Spring never arrive?

Potato planting day came and went and I left one bed empty, figuing a late planting to make up for the plants lost to inevitable rot.

Down here we are in a severe drought and only allowed to water twice a week. Just can't win this season!
