Anyone make elephant ears aka crispies aka elephant tracks?

Moorhead, MN

My dad,87, loves these from the bakery but the price just jumped to $4 for 3- ouch. I made these years ago as a young farm wife but lost the recipe years ago. I remember they did use yeast and they were baked. When they were done they were the size of a saucer about3/4 inch thick and very flakey and crisp, I sprinkled them with cinnamon sugar hot out of the oven. Hope someone can help as I would love to suprise him some morning. He's recovering from a broken hip and little things mean so much!! The most beautiful thing in the world is going in to wake him in the morning, finding the 2 schnauzers wrapped aroud him and seeing that first sleepy smile light up his face.
